The Sue Fairbanks Psychoanalytic Academy was created to serve at the intersection of psychoanalysis and social work. Our purpose is to develop research and education based on psychoanalytic theory as understood through the lens of social work. The Academy was created in 2019, with a generous endowment by Sue Fairbanks, LCSW, BCD, a local psychoanalytically informed practitioner, alumna and longtime supporter of the Steve Hicks School of Social Work. The Academy is located within the Texas Institute for Child and Family Wellbeing at the University of Texas at Austin.
